I don't know much more about Mr. Langford than what he said here, and the few mentions of him from some of the RV books out there, so forgive my limited education.  I get the feeling what he said here was very valuable, and it would be nice to hear from you all regarding your knowledge and insights about the suggestions he made.

Maybe Mr. Langford reads the stuff we post here, and I don't start this thread to solicit his input.  I think what get gave us earlier in 2005 was a lot, and we can get a wealth of info on techniques and important ideas from what he provided. If this has already been talked to death on another thread, please let me know.

Here is the old thread, btw.
http://www.dojopsi.info/forum/index.php?topic=936.0

Mr. Langford said:
Quote
The very best viewers were the ones who, through self discovery, found their way to improved accuracy and precision.

With that said, I think we may benefit greatly from (and may only be able to achieve) finding our way there, and not rely on a teacher to lead us.  Even if you explain RV to me, I still have to grasp it with my mind.  I am sure the dozens of books I've read, and the multitude of brilliant people I have talked with, have given me the information I need to RV with 100% accuracy, but I have not heard it.  But that's a whole nuther thread topic... lets get to learning by examining what Mr. Langford shared with us.

I think Mr. Langford does his RV in an altered state of consciousness (ASC), and does not use the CRV process.  Despite his authorship of a CRV manual decades ago, there were a number of things in his posts here that suggest he is not using CRV.  He discussed "holding things in memory" and why would that be necessary if you were regularly writing things down?

He also said:
Quote
Nothing from the original handbook remains in my work.

He also noted that the ideograms and sketching is important in one's early learning of RV.

A second important idea he posted was the idea of starting multiple processes "that stimulate the brain to provide information about a target".  From his discussions on "keys" and his description of his "spider trap", it seems that he is creating an "intention" or a mental construct, a "request" or communication to his subconscious, to filter in target data.  And there are many happening in parallel, so he makes multiple, clarifying requests for info that get specific info that can be gathered together to reveal target info.  Does that make any sense. or am I way off?

What do you think he was talking about when he said:
Quote
...sequential, but non serial human functions are the natural venue for psi.

What other things from his posts need exploration?

I thought the charts at the end were very impressive. Especially the graphs indicating that 4 targets every 4 days is as good if not better than 1 target a day for learning. At least the graphs seem to indicate a peak learning curve with no more than 4 targets.

Another graph I thought was more important was the relevance and relationship of positive feedback to performance. He also discussed that in his post going so far as to say that a viewer performs best in a socially supportive environment with positive feedback.

Buddy systems and small teams would seem to proffer based on his analysis.

One of the things that stuck with me from his brief visit with us was his talk of creating mental tools (like the 'spider detector' analogy.)

Richard Bandler (founder of NLP and a brilliant man in his own right,) has a seminar he's been giving since the early 90's called "Design Human Engineering." It deals largely with internal processing, mental strategies and creation of mental tools. For example (and to oversimplify,) one is instructed to create a 'control panel' in their mind. They then fill the control panel with instruments such as readouts that display insulin levels, heart rate or other things of the like. Also on the control panel are dials or levers that control things like relaxation, adrenaline, blood pressure, focus, pupil dilation and so on. Each person of course ultimately customizes their own control panel and puts whatever tools or controls they want on it. Really whatever you can think of and feel like you'll use. Tired and still have work to do? Go to your control panel and push up the lever that controls wakefulness...

The really neat thing is it works. The more you use it, the better it works. You can program chosen tools to work automatically if you wish. It's basically a fairly direct way of hardwiring your mind/body to do certain things on command and with a certain amount of precision. Most of us have had the experience of setting an "internal alarm clock" and waking up at the exact minute we meant to.

Anyway, this reminds me a good deal of Mr. Langfords mental tools and filters talk. I've wondered many times if one could create a special mental "control panel" for remote viewing purposes. Visualize a computer panel in your head. If you could program it to process information and or display/discard that information in whatever mode worked best for you, how would you program it? Would you make a lever for psychic "aperature," or buttons that activated conceptual or physical filters, or even signal/noise filters?  I started experimenting a bit with the concept last year, but got sidetracked and didn't get too far (sigh.) Going to have to start again with it. The idea makes a lot of sense to me though.

As much as I dislike using computer terms to describe RVing processes, I am going to do just that.  Forgive me.  Just as an aside, I don't like using the computer model, or holographs, "The Matrix", radio transmission, particle/wave, or quantum models because its as limiting as it is instructive. But hey.... whattayagunnado?

So if we create a dozen programs to run in parallel, and then use a "key" to pull in their gathered data into an RV session, that would explain why he says he wants to be able to hold 50 pieces of info in his head AND an RV session takes 40 seconds.  How could you gather 50 pieces of RV data in 40 seconds?

It appears (and correct my perception here...) that he is creating a dozen programs to run 24/7, like the "filter" statements.  These programs, like his spider trap, are out there subconsciously gathering PSI data all the time.  Then he sits down, and uses a key for each program to gather the data from those dozen applications of intention.

By using the subconscious to gather the info, he's removing that troublesome egomind from the hour-long RV session we are used to experiencing.

And if all this is accurate, then the big question is, how does he create the applications, the data gathering programs?

btw, thanks for the resume info.  He's done a lot in his adventures.

LD,

Tell me about DHE and Bander.  I did a few minutes of googling and found his site and a oft-repeated Wiki article.  Is there a book or website or some youtube stuff on DHE?

Hi Benton,

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this.

Richard Bandler is the co-founder of Neuro Linguistic Programming among other things. In the seventies, he was one of the first to do formal "modeling," or studying of geniuses and people who were the leaders of their field and modeling or breaking down exactly how they achieved their amazing results, when they often didn't know or couldn't explain it themselves. He modeled people like psychotherapists Virginia Satir, Fritz Perls and famed psychiatrist and hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, plus many others. He has written a ton of books and given lectures, talks and seminars for the past 3 decades on changing mental and emotional processing patterns in yourself and others. In his speaking, he's often politically incorrect, belligerent and sometimes crude, but arguably effective nonetheless.

There's not much online in the way of breakdowns or even detailed descriptions of the DHE seminars online. Even the one on Bandler's own site is fairly vague and ambiguous. I think one of the reasons for this is that it isn't easy to give a fairly specific overview. One of the ways Bandler works in his talks is by telling seemingly irrelevant, though entertaining, stories. It often sounds like he's just smoking and joking, often jumping from one story to the next without finishing the first. In reality though, he's using allegorical stories, NLP, and various conversational hypnotic techniques to get the results he's looking for. In DHE, this is contrasted by his co-presenter, John Lavalle, who after an hour or two of Bandler's 'banter,' comes in with an hour or two of more nuts-and-bolts type exercises and techniques. I think it's pretty effective combination. A fourteen-CD recording of one of the seminars is available here, but it's not cheap.

So an accessible book on the subject is non-existant.  Oh well, one less book to read.

After my looking around the web, I was not surprised with your helpful response.  I have the feeling I can get what I need somehow, despite the limited amount of info on the web or in the bookstores.  Having to work harder for it will make me appreciate it more.

* TEN THOUSAND ROADS REMOTE VIEWING AND DOWSING PROJECT

Since its opening in 2003, the TKR Project has created and sponsored online opportunities for Remote Viewers and Dowsers. We provide free information, and community for all viewers (of all psychic methods, backgrounds, experience, and perspectives on psi), and an array of software utilities and projects offering real-time viewing within an appropriate RV protocol.

The Ten Thousand Roads (aka TKR) project is independently managed and webmastered by a diverse collection of viewers from around the "online RV field". This project owes thanks to the archives of the Firedocs Remote Viewing Collection for its primary visitor source and to the project Dojo Psi for building out its first RV software custom for TKR.

This project is founded, programmed, designed and $-sponsored by Palyne as a community service. All website names, content, graphics, and slogans are Copyright © (various dates until present) to P.J. Gaenir. Viewers and taskers always own their own content of course. Registered members are welcome to excerpt text or screenshots to communicate about the project, and we always appreciate links back to us! Try this link: http://www.dojopsi.info/forum/ for the forum, or http://www.dojopsi.com/tkr/ for the hands-on viewing area.
