Dr. Tart is such a nice guy. He's also on Coast to Coast AM tomorrow! -- but you're more likely to be able to ask him a direct question if you're at the chat tonight. :-)

Awesome chat. Thanks to everyone who joined us. Tons of great questions, as usual.

Dr. Tart is a candid guy with a great sense of humor and much insight. It was a real treat to be able to bounce some questions off him. As PJ pointed out after the chat, he's been publishing papers on parapsychology since before many of us were even born! Thanks again, everyone.

The transcript will be online in a few days or so. Check back here for more information.

Best,

That was even more interesting than I expected actually. He is more geared to psi and psychology than remote viewing and it was cool to see anybody talking about stuff like fear of psi -- I think that's part of what we all fight to hammer down in the psychology as part of the process.

The direct infomation and experience he had in the use of a Faraday cage to increase or decrease psi was really interesting. Fascinating really as if what he was saying is fact, and I have absolutely no reason to think it wasn't, then it would seem this is a smoking gun (somehow) as to the mechanics of psi or perhaps the "signal line".

Perhaps once the transcript is up I can get everyone's ideas on the subject.

I never realized the fear of PSI was such an obstacle. I guess if you have a father that designs complex annealing furnaces from the dreams he had and a mother with red hair whose mother's maiden name was Hillditch (change the 'd' to a 'w' for real laugh), photographed your first ghosts before you're nine, the fear of PSI and the unknown in minimal.

As for the Faraday cage, one of their homes built by a millionaire in the 1920's is laced with brass strapping through the walls, used to keep the heavily textured finish on the walls. It is a very calm and peaceful there. They used to show the house to bus loads of people who immediately calmed when they walked through the door. I remote viewed there often and was the last one to experience the resident ghost in the breakfast nook (he was leaving and wanted the house looked after).

The live chat was a real treat.  For over 29 years, I have enjoyed and appreciated the many contributions to science that Dr. Tart has made.
He has a wonderful spirit and sense of humor - a genuine treasure.

Amongst several interesting remarks he made, I found the following anecdote on disassociation (during ASC) as insightful as it is amusing.

Dr._Charles_Tart:
"I was given mescaline a zillion years ago, an interesting story, and I
had agreed to do ESP card calling tests beforehand.
When we got to that, I was exploring the cosmos and they wanted me to call cards?  How boring!  But it was for science, and I had agreed to it, so...

But what I did was dissociate a part of my mind to generate the card
symbols, connected it to my vocal cords, and let it rip, while "I" went on exploring the cosmos...

If you look at traditional societies where shamans use drugs to get into ASCs,
they don't just "trip," they are trained to focus the states on tasks considered useful by their culture, like RVing where the lost cow is

Yes, I had fun, and I learned the real meaning of dissociation."

What happens if you get scared half to death...twice?

Why don't they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff?

May you have the hindsight to know where you've been, the foresight to know where you're going and the insight to know when you're going too far.

I did some online hunting around and found an excerpt of Ingo Swanns book Psychic Sex in which he describes the copper room exmeriment.
http://forum.healingdao.com/general/message/14651%5C

It did way more than curl Ingo's toes. LOL

I really really want to try it out too.

cheers

Liz, really!  Shocked

You might consider the modern version, although the results may be somewhat different.
The copper mirror and magnet sounds like fun too, what were you talking about? Wink

Early 2007 I was going through a phase where I could hear people's thoughts in the hallway at work, elevators rides would often induce a chuckle. The ability grew old quickly and diminished as fast as it came. I narrowly avoided scandal a few times when I'd inadvertently finished their thoughts for them verbally.

* TEN THOUSAND ROADS REMOTE VIEWING AND DOWSING PROJECT

Since its opening in 2003, the TKR Project has created and sponsored online opportunities for Remote Viewers and Dowsers. We provide free information, and community for all viewers (of all psychic methods, backgrounds, experience, and perspectives on psi), and an array of software utilities and projects offering real-time viewing within an appropriate RV protocol.

The Ten Thousand Roads (aka TKR) project is independently managed and webmastered by a diverse collection of viewers from around the "online RV field". This project owes thanks to the archives of the Firedocs Remote Viewing Collection for its primary visitor source and to the project Dojo Psi for building out its first RV software custom for TKR.

This project is founded, programmed, designed and $-sponsored by Palyne as a community service. All website names, content, graphics, and slogans are Copyright © (various dates until present) to P.J. Gaenir. Viewers and taskers always own their own content of course. Registered members are welcome to excerpt text or screenshots to communicate about the project, and we always appreciate links back to us! Try this link: http://www.dojopsi.info/forum/ for the forum, or http://www.dojopsi.com/tkr/ for the hands-on viewing area.
