Perhaps some like to read a bit of science studies on this.

Eleven hypotheses that have been proposed to explain why psychic phenomena are so weak, unreliable, and/or rare are reviewed.

(6) fear of psi suppresses psi  Shocked

That's for the pseudo-sceptics I guess.  Tongue

"The manifestations of this resistance range from a lack of healthy curiosity about the possibility of psi to fanatical opposition to the very concept."

elusive?  I guess.  People just don't like it, as a general population.  I don't think it is elusive, just not liked.

Some psychologists including those most fervently in favor of recognizing psi such as Dr. Charles Tart, have speculated that fear of psi is part of the reason. I've heard various theories that this appears to be an issue in literally every culture -- just differently handled depending on the culture.  I did a couple archetype meditations on the topic, assuming it would be NOTHING for me, and was really shocked at how gut wrenching it actually was.

When you think about it, our definition of reality is modeled on those around us, filtered by biology but further filtered by our models, literally from the instant we get out of the womb. Psi is not something exceptional, but rather, interaction with ourselves/reality we have spent every instant of our life learning to either ignore, or to allow but repress conscious knowledge of. Otherwise our definition of reality, linear time, and much more would be completely screwed up (plenty of people who are hyper-psi are also hyper-insane, and probably for good reason). So even if there were not a lot of other very real cultural things in the way of a full belief of psi, I suspect there are a lot of reality-maintaining things in the way, for the self-protection of the psychology. No?

I agree.

Fear is a factor. Fear of being odd perhaps. The horrors of the witch-hunts sits in the back spines.
And there is a necessity to stick to the rule-set of our world.

I suppose, at this moment, that PSI is supposed to be elusive, by the rule-set. It probably work in plenty all around us, but is not recognized; compare it to the manoeuvring of some flock of birds or fish, or the collective unconscious of humans, this goes on without us knowing about it, mostly.

I can say also that I myself is in fear of PSI in that sense that: What if it had worked better than it does!
What if the military had succeeded better with it during the cold war!

* TEN THOUSAND ROADS REMOTE VIEWING AND DOWSING PROJECT

Since its opening in 2003, the TKR Project has created and sponsored online opportunities for Remote Viewers and Dowsers. We provide free information, and community for all viewers (of all psychic methods, backgrounds, experience, and perspectives on psi), and an array of software utilities and projects offering real-time viewing within an appropriate RV protocol.

The Ten Thousand Roads (aka TKR) project is independently managed and webmastered by a diverse collection of viewers from around the "online RV field". This project owes thanks to the archives of the Firedocs Remote Viewing Collection for its primary visitor source and to the project Dojo Psi for building out its first RV software custom for TKR.

This project is founded, programmed, designed and $-sponsored by Palyne as a community service. All website names, content, graphics, and slogans are Copyright © (various dates until present) to P.J. Gaenir. Viewers and taskers always own their own content of course. Registered members are welcome to excerpt text or screenshots to communicate about the project, and we always appreciate links back to us! Try this link: http://www.dojopsi.info/forum/ for the forum, or http://www.dojopsi.com/tkr/ for the hands-on viewing area.
