I thought I would sponsor a little creativity in a field known far
and wide for being VERY creative... accidentally.
(Or, only about history!)
===== The RV Oasis November Haiku Contest is on =====
Creativity! humor! angst! You can even put your RV 'predictions'
in Haiku form if you wish. Anything you want. Anything related to
RV process, training, methods, performance, the RV field and any
aspect of it, any well known people in it, your sessions, etc.
For those of you who don't know, the art form of Haiku has as many
politics and differing opinions as RV and the bible. Just in case
you thought the 5-7-5 syllable rule was so easy, heh! When humans
are involved, NOTHING is simple and agreed upon. But in my contest,
the rule is a "general 5-7-5" and whether yours sounds like a zen
koan, graffiti, oxymoron or a limerick is entirely up to you.
Poetry is serious stuff. See below.
Contest rules:
1. Post your Haiku(s) to the list.
2. No limit on quantity, you can write as many as you want.
3. No restriction on tone or topic (except RV-related as above).
4. It must be in the 5-7-5 syllable format, so you do have to be able
to count to seven. (That might disqualify several in our field I
realize, but we do have to draw the line somewhere.)
Contest prohibitions:
1. No stealing anybody else's predictive haiku and claiming it on
the radio as your own.
2. If your predictive haiku involves the world ending in days, this
had better not include such beginning in deepest Africa. It will
begin in your kitchen. Trust me. If it doesn't, my friends and I
will make it so.
3. Evil creativity is welcome but no specific names please. (In my
view, any venting that doesn't involve firearms is good.)
Contest deadline: Ends November 30, 2002.
Judging method: Ten pjrv members (whichever I happen to feel like
asking when this is over) and I (we can't judge our own, of course)
will choose 25 (if there's more than that) of our favorites.
I will post those 25 each as a "poll" in PJRV and all members who
wish to can RANK ORDER JUDGE each Haiku.
Contest prizes:
First prize: A first-edition hardback of the recent book THE STARGATE
CHRONICLES by Viewer Joseph McMoneagle, autographed by the author,
for your reading pleasure. AND, a brand new genuine numbered-page
hardbound Laboratory Notebook with "REMOTE VIEWING" embossed on the
cover for your session pleasure. (All other needed pleasures you will
have to take care of on your own.) AND, 15 hand-selected RV practice
photo targets, in individual sealed envelopes (snailmail), for
whatever viewing experience level you specify.
Second prize: (1a) A genuine laboratory notebook for your sessions,
and 15 RV practice photo targets (snailmail or email), 5
with "retasking" follow-up by yours truly (you don't have to show me
your session :-)). OR, (1b) a sponsored membership in IRVA.
Third prize: Your choice of either a laboratory notebook for your
sessions, or 10 individually tasked practice targets with "retasking"
for second sessions (via internet - email or web).
I will begin this CHALLENGE:
------------------
I stink at RV!
But I can surely Haiku
Much better than you!
------------------

PJ, great contest!
Soon, you will all bow to my
god-like haiku power!
Beer. Jelly donuts.
I know! It's Homer Simpson!
What? AOL? Doh!
Energy vortex.
Primal matter spinning down.
Feedback? My toilet!
Water. Motion. Plants.
Nothing much here. Gateway Arch--
I should have looked up.

Some more:
Somebody died there.
Walking through the rain, I feel
her tears on my cheeks.
RV--a stargate
to other dimensions. But
no Major Carter.
Practice is boring.
Give me the magic potion--
I've been a good boy.

My Haiku's
My past holds me dear
I See shells by the seashore
RV to see me
Do you see me now
The way could hold you at bay
Yet, You could be me
If you could RV
Your vision could be of me
Or just a pine tree
Kiss my RV quips
Cover them with whipped fruit and cream
Lick, stroke, and savor dreams
