does anyone ever mess about with those tests, or games (as skills involved) as i call them now on gotpsi.org out of curiousity?

Not sure if it was this place - but I heard of someone scoring highly on an online psi test website, and they got contacted shortly thereafter.

Take that as you will. Anything that requires registration should be inspected.

Registration? You mean they require personal info? Well they might come to think of it since it's science research. That's Dr. Dean Radin's site fyi.

I have contacted many remote viewers online, yes, what's the point?

;D

No, seriously. Contacted by whom? You didn't specify. Remote viewers contact each other all the time, you just contacted me, too :p Do you mean some Oh So Shady Organization? Sorry, I have just bumped into online paranoia in an other group as well and that's why I might come across as a bit too aggressive. It's as if today were Conspiracy Day or something. Cut it out already, people. You're telling stories but it always happened to a friend of someone you knew, or you heard it from the other guy...

Well look Eric, if I were The Government, I could contact you because you have an e-mail address, even if it's some free one (I dunno offhand) or I could send you a private msg on boards, so what now, will you not post or do anything online because someone might be watching?! Obviously not.

But. I have designed and run experiments - completely mainstream psychology experiments - and that's something most people never do in their entire lives so they don't know how it is. I'll tell you now. (Most researchers would rather not talk about this because it's less than glamorous LOL. At least I don't see them talk about it... oh whatever. I'm still a student, on no one's payroll, so I can say how I feel.)

Very often, the worst part of doing an experiment is... not the math. Not the design. Not the idunnowhat. The worst part is, finding participants and getting them to do what they're supposed to do - let me clarify on this latter part... Eg. if some apparatus is needed, then the participants should be in the same room as the apparatus, and if that means they have to be flown in from halfway across the country, or you have to go there with the apparatus it just won't work, not in the long term.

So. Let's cut to the chase and say you're the army (of your choice) and want to do some top secret psi research. Where do you look for your participants?

(No, not online. But hear me out and you'll see why.)

First of all, you need them fairly soon. And you need them to be trustworthy because heck, this is a top secret operation. The people who are already in the army (intelligence organization, secret police, whatever) already have the necessary clearances to work on this stuff or even if they don't, it takes them a lot less time than for someone you pick off the street and induct to the army, have'im do the whole thing from scratch.

If you just find some random people online... well that's a huge security risk for your organization! Even if they're US citizens, they might work for foreign intell agencies, have allegations, etc. that you need to check. And that takes a long time, and if they're foreign spies and have done all that online posting to attract attention on themselves, then they're obviously well-prepared for security checks. (Though I don't think they would do that, because no secret project searches online for participants anyway... at least I haven't seen any!) Now compare that to someone who has been in the army from a young age, used to the structure of the army, used to following orders which is not necessarily common in the outside world, with all that emphasis the US puts on individuality, be yourself, listen to your heart, all that stuff... you just can't compare. Even if they're not spies, with interests deliberately opposed to yours, rather ordinary people like to gossip every now and then, and now all this strictness all of a sudden... oy vey!

The army is HUGE and you don't need 100 remote viewers, you only need a handful. So you can find a couple of very good remote viewers, one-in-a-thousand types, even in the army, no need to go to the civilian world. Keep it in-house.

Plus (and this is a huge plus) the army has the means to get a large amount of people to do whatever it thinks they should be doing. If it wants them to do a remote viewing test, it'll just command'em to do it. It has buildings, logistics, everything.

(With an online test you can also have many people but you have no control of their surroundings, which might be a disadvantage. I confess, I have done RV sessions online while simultaneously reading incoming e-mail. LOL)

The above only applies when secrecy is an issue. (And is based on my assumptions as I have never worked in such a place.) If you're a random researcher off some university or research institute, out of money, running low on grants, you know the drill, then the internet is an ideal place to gather data. Code your experiment (obviously this only works with stuff that can run on a computer, actually it doesn't work best with experiments but with survey type research instead). Reach the people who might be willing participants easily. (If you want psi then you could post right here on TKR.) Get lots and lots of people to do your process (be it an experiment or a survey or whatever). If it needs a specialised skill - like psi - you could keep track of scores and have some means of reaching participants in a private message (this can be done anonymously). Then if you need people who are good at the skill you need, you take a look at your top n and send them a message about how they would feel like about giving it a try in the lab. Which might have been the basis of this gotpsi legend, and is a down to earth thing, every researcher would do that. A local researcher has an agreement with a new age type school to screen and gather participants. If that sounds like a pain to do, well you're essentially right. I don't know this about gotpsi offhand but on RPKP there is a notice when you sign up that if your results are promising you might be noticed to take part in further experiments... could be the same thing on gotpsi and frankly, if I would have programmed it myself, there would be. As long as it's voluntary, no problems with consent etc.... I don't see a problem with it. They send you a message - they don't know who you are, a random nickname will do - and it's up to you to reply and get there in person and blow your anonymity if you so desire.

One more thing... if you're a secret organization then you obviously don't want to send unencrypted e-mail to someone with your contact info. Literally anyone can see it. (Especially with WLAN these days...) The phone won't do either - you will want to do it in person.

Uh, sorry folks. That ended up long-winded and preachy. But I should be studying for an exam so... I don't want to rewrite it. :(

LOL! I don't think Eric is the paranoid one of the online crowd, but I can see how it might have come across that way. But it's ok! It was a really good rant! I would never get in the way of that. ;D

For a while I spent a lot of time on the Card Draw Test, which tests for micro-pk...Basically there are 5 cards and you try to influence it so that when the cards turn over an image will appear underneath. I got pretty good at it, but success left as quickly as it came, and I didn't really want to keep doing it because it got to be pretty boring and after a while even getting very high scores isn't that rewarding any more.

It was very hard to get the hang of and often when I thought I had it, it began to slip away.

The key seemed to be having this strange certainty that, yes the card when flipped over has the image under it. Any doubt whatsoever led to a negative effect. It was this absolute belief and in myself at the moment, completely unwavering. Actually "knowledge" rather than belief is a better word for the mindset that I found correlated to success. I would "know" that it would turn over with the image underneath.

yeah.. i used to frequent gotpsi. I still go there sometimes. not often though.

I began with card type experiments and that was fine and good and i got some significant results there but then i started to find it harder. motivation vanished. at the end of the day it is much harder to get good results in point-decisions like card draw tests because
a) its boring
b) there is no surrounding context or little surrounding context
c) there are a large number of consecutive trials.

as i said - i *used* to get sig. results.. but it became difficult to get myself to do the tests. ego resistance. i guess i started missing in order to remove the reenforcement, the good feeling, that came from doing well. so that i could stop, basically. Now i find it remarkably easy to get highly significant psi-missing results.. ie results that are in the wrong direction.. like picking all of the cards but the card in question for dozens of trials in a row. dont know why. but there is a vague feeling of paranoia associated with that site which might contribute to that.

twould be interesting to get a few tkr members to work in gotpsi regularly to the same extent and observe if their rv performance changes at all. i had the feeling that point-decisions were a different kind of psi somehow. but that they also seemed to help, to increase related psi.

Pk is fun. would be cool if there were more or better pk games or experiments or programs.

anyone heard of the retropsychokinesis project?

Aghk! I really cracked a can o worms here!

No, it wasnt that site.

The wierd thing was, it was a non - registration site where I heard, third party mind you, that a person got contacted. Logged thier IP, did a whois, called em up. Was a govt thing, supposedly.

I wish I were so good, haha.

Nothing against Radin - I shoulda explained more clearly in my original post.

Or I could pull a "Joe" and change the old post, and then ask what the heck you guys are squabbling about, hehe.

Well if you score highly and someone contacts you its not that site then... unless i didn't score high enought:(

Try playing the 5 card test after viewing, I found the odds against chance should go well into 4 figures the majority of times. Gonna see if I can pick horse race winners the same way later.

I found attention/focus is key to playing + not being tired also patiance and the longer between bets helps to. (when not after viewing)

We are. Of course, I'm completely indiscriminate. I like anybody who goes by Joe. I also like anybody who gives me chocolate. And I'm fond of people who help me test TKR at ungodly hours of the night. So the way I see it dude, you just need to send me some chocolate and we'll be lifelong friends.

hmmm...seems like ya knew a lot about American Idol for not watching it or being interested

I have seen parts of it while flipping through the channels, it sucks, not my type of stuff at all, seems to have a lot of appeal to teenie boppers tho..

Chocolate? Isn't the grace of my presence enough? lol This sounds like some sort fo special interest thing, like what the city council is in trouble for in san diego LOL.....
I don't really eat chocolate a lot, screws my blood sugar up, My S/O likes dark chocolate, but not too much, it seems some women go nuts over chocolate... not sure why..
SO what is it? What is this big thing women seem to have with Chocolate? Is there a specific chocolate type that sets you off? Does it get you high or something?
And what is this obsession women have with tweezers?
???

At some point the chocolate gods are going to come after me for this... or the followers of the chocolate gods... LOL

Geez...you have to ask? I thought all males knew this was on the TOP of EVERY list...why...it's even better than....well, you know what ! (So some SAY)

Guess who lives just a stones throw from Hershey, Pa. Chocolate Capital of the World ? ...some might say this is just coincidental, but we RVer type people know there is no such thing as an 'accident'. When a person lives this close to chocolate, who needs men? LMAO!

Tweezers? That's another story.

This cowering emoticons will have to do in a pinch...(no tweezer pun intended )

I'm finished hijacking this thread.....how about you? LOL

added:Damn....mornings are getting harder and harder. First not enough Joe in my cup then I proceed to comments made by the OTHER Joe (_B) which now makes 2 many Joes for this morning weary mind to handle. :p It was Joe_B who had the root canal. It's Joe_S who is an original and isn't a Hell's Angel kinda guy and only knows about American Idol from flipping through channels at lightning speed on his remote.

It's noon time now...I'm waking up...and by 7 PM I'll be rarin to go and by midnight, I'll be ready for the day I just ended :-/
