Bulgarian Clairvoyant Vanga was born in the village of Strumica at the foot of a mountain range in what was the Ottoman Empire. She is believed to have lost her eyesight during storm when she was picked up in a fierce gust of wind and dumped back down on the ground. Vanga later claimed she had the ability to look into the future and quickly developed a following. In later years, she became trusted by the rich and famous with even heads of state and powerful politicians from around the world seeking her opinions. She died in 1996 at the age of 85. Allegedly she has a success rate of 85%.

The problem is she didn't read/write, spoke an obscure nearly dead dialect, and that part of the world where she lived (a small area) didn't even really start on the "personal" internet until around 2006, most much later. So much of what was relayed of her predictions was verbally and pre-internet (so missing) or post-internet (much of which by the time it got posted, enough had occurred that it was either after the fact, or not a huge stretch for a guess). Also, much of what is credited to her as predictions are not real (lots from tabloids - most of them didn't happen anyway). Some are just propaganda she never said (she was 'owned' by the soviets, basically. She saw hundreds of people every day, and worked free, but the soviets charged. People brought her trade donations, like food).

She did however love Vladimir Putin. Predicted he would be leader well before he was. Predicted he would someday be leader of the larger world, I think, I didn't grab that quote.

Some of her predictions. Political:

Vanga said there would be a 'great Muslim war.' There is some debate about when it would begin. Many say that she said "Arab Spring in 2010" but the word 'arapskim' is not too specific. She predicted it would take place in Syria and would come to a conclusion in 2043 with the establishment of a caliphate with Rome at its centre.

She said Europe will by that time cease to exist as we know it today, after a systemic destruction of whole nations, which will leave the European continent practically empty without any form of life.

In 1989, she is said to have made reference to the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. News.com.au reports how she once said: 'Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds.' She added that 'innocent blood will gush.'

Allegedly she predicted Obama and a radical change in our country. Her words (translated) were "USA will have black man as a president. He will be 44th and last president of the country. After that will be major change in political system".

{There is debate about the date on the making of that -- to validate it as real -- but one fellow who lived near her (she was always in local news) said, "I remember this prophecy in our early democratic period here, when USA invaded Persian Gulf."}

Ecological:

In the 1950s Vanga reportedly predicted that in the future, 'a huge wave will cover a big coast covered with people and towns, and everything will disappear beneath the water'. {That was interpreted as predicting the 2004 tsunami.} She also said 'cold regions will become warm... and volcanoes will awaken.' 'Everything will melt, just like ice,' she added.

Personal:

A man (former police, former bodyguard to a politician, in Bulgaria) met her on three occasions. One in the bodyguard role, first. One on his own. She told him among many other things that he would be hit from behind in traffic by a truck and be injured. That he would fall in love and she gave him the name of his future wife. She had a visit with his brother, and predicted that when he married, he would have two sets of twins as children. So this guy, he was in an accident as described. He fell in love with his doctor, whom he only knew as Dr. ____. Invited her to dinner when he was well, he already loved her and she him, and she agreed and it turned out that was her name, which he didn't know until then (they were married). His brother, btw, did in fact have not just one but two sets of twins. He says there were many other predictions she made, many very specific, that came true.

Ghastly, I'd prefer nuclear inhalation to her her dismal prophesy!

I prefer the vision shown to me. A Near Extinction Event will collimate in 2039. At this time I am already gone from this world (and hope to have returned to the Pleiades). But the good news is the planet reboots in 2059, everything has greened over and begins to flower and bloom again. People are living in small communities.

She does sound a lot like Mother Shipton, though. I've got someone new to research now.

Thanks!
