RV safe without a monitor?

I was wondering if learning this by oneself and practicing is completely safe? I am reading the Psychic Warrier and noticed David Morehouse had a lot of disturbing experiences and seemed to need a lot of help while learning.

I can't take an onsite course at the present time so would be on my own should I choose to do this.

Hardly definitive, I know, but I've been practising on my own for two and a half weeks now without any ill effects of any sort... :) Does that help at all?

It's a book... and if RV were fractionally as interesting as the book made it sound, the most common SPAM in your email would not be VIAGRA, it would be RV, lol.

Remote Viewing -- psychic work of any kind actually -- has pretty much only one danger: the stability of the psyche of the individual. Many people (probably most in fact) really, despite having an interest in the topic consciously, are not entirely ready for the psychological adjustments needed to move a belief in psi into their worldview, nor those needed to deal with the experience. This can cause some psychological ... issues with a lot of people. But that's a personal issue that nobody but the individual can really judge (except in overt cases).

Nearly everybody does RV alone. There are some people who are fortunate enough to have partners. But few do.

PJ

So most people do it on their own and never take a seminar? Which book would be best for the beginner? I find it funny that you don't think RV is all that fascinating and yet you are the administrator! ???

Well, I find the whole idea fascinating if only for everday use. For instance, my husband just lost his watch. Now he will have to buy a new one. I could have helped if I had RV skills, right? The only thing really holding me back is my Christian background and the fear I am upsetting God. If I can get past that, I will be able to do this, I am sure. If not, oh well. :'(

Hi Rita (plantsower--great alias! do you garden?),

So most people do it on their own and never take a seminar?
Many do. Hard to count 'most' since the vast majority of people online only 'lurk' and don't say anything.

Which book would be best for the beginner?
Jane Roberts and Ingo Swann's 1970's books on developing your "ESP Power". And then Joe McMoneagle's book "Remote Viewing Secrets." The first two are fun and experimental; the third is the textbook on the parameters of RV. If you want a psi method but you're not taking training, I don't have any major preferences in that case, but I think the TDS basics -- see the link near top left of all these pages -- probably work ok for most people. And check out the firedocs RV website (link at bottom center of all these pages) -- there's tons of info there.

I find it funny that you don't think RV is all that fascinating and yet you are the administrator! ???
I didn't say I didn't find it fascinating! It is, very much so. I just said it isn't as fascinating as the STAR-STREAMING ORGASMIC RUSHING MINDBLOWING COSMIC "stuff" in Morehouse's book, is all! ;D

The only thing really holding me back is my Christian background and the fear I am upsetting God.
Hmmmn.

Well I think about it like this: some people say, if God had wanted us to fly, he'd have given us wings. But most christians don't feel guilty getting on airplanes.

(Unless you're Amish perhaps.)

Or, "If God wanted us to be psi, he'd have given us psi. Oh wait -- HE DID!" :)

Best,
PJ

Thanks, P.J. That was helpful.

As far as what God gives us, I agree we can have insight, prophesy, have visions, prophetic dreams, etc. But.....it says we are not to contact astrologers, prognosticators, etc. When reading Isaiah 47:13 and 14, it sounds like God hates these people. If it wasn't for that, I would be going for this no holes barrred!!

What does TDS, TKR and PSI stand for? I think PSI is psychic phenomena in general or something. And ether? I'm thinking that is the foggy place you go when you are remote viewing. Just don't want to get stuck there. Morehouse sounds like he has emotional problems from reading Psychic Warrier. Maybe he's better now. I know he does seminars. I'm glad all experiences are not like Morehouse's. Scarey!!

Not fun to be confused. I will tr to read that stuff you mentioned.

it sounds like God hates these people.    If it wasn't for that, I would be going for this no holes barrred!!

You don't sound as if you have made this a solid belief within yourself....yet. "It sounds like' is a question within you...you have your doubts. Ask yourself this: why would God hate the very people he created? How does God and free will enter into your belief system? And most important to me was my being able to define God for myself...who/what is God?...a person, a spirit, a supreme being,an energy, what ? ? ? Defining this is a personal quest...not for one to do for another. This needs to be YOUR belief based on what makes sense (truth) to you.

You say, if it wasn't for that etc...and yet....here you are...right smack in the middle of a no holes barred group. ;) Welcome! Rita, you have found a great group of people.

We've not done a lot of (if any) discussions pertaining to 'Religion' and remote viewing, other than general dialogs about intent, beliefs in general, attitudes and the like. (Getting into religions on a large scale is beyond the scope of this forum). You come from a difficult position...that of integrating mainstream religious doctrine with psi aspects. Guaranteed, if you keep picking away at your questions, you will find your answers...many of which will surprise (not scare) the hell out of you. It's an important process you are embarking on. Most all of us have had our mountains to climb before we got to where we are now....so stay with it...do the inner work and get your answers...and stay with us while you do it. Read the boards thoroughly. You will find much that makes great sense, nothing that is 'evil'. Take all the information presented here slow and easy...let it sink it, allow what is being said within the forum to be put up against your present beliefs...allow yourself the freedom of having your beliefs stretched and challanged...and if your present beliefs win out, then you will know where and how your being is at this present time. If some beliefs change as a result of what you learn here, then it was your time to have a new awareness.

In short, all of what we do is a personal adventure into who/what we are in the bigger picture....remote viewing is just another aspect of things we are capable of doing while learning the values of good intent, purpose, control over ego/self and taking a look at other values and virtues.

Above all, have FUN learning this and doing viewing. Regard this as a hobby, something enjoyable..not something that needs to be 'dry and so so serious and no room for error'. Remote viewing may or may not be for you- either way is fine. You are doing the correct approach by finding out for YOURSELF what this is all about...a learning process for sure.

Hiya Rita,

I spent a lot of time in a conservative christian environ when I was young--and a charismatic conservative christian environ when I was around 18-19--both of which set in motion a lot of stuff in my head that I've had to gradually deal with, not just with RV, but with the rest of life as well. I suspect many people are in that boat.

As far as what God gives us, I agree we can have insight, prophesy, have visions, prophetic dreams, etc. But.....it says we are not to contact astrologers, prognosticators, etc. When reading Isaiah 47:13 and 14, it sounds like God hates these people.
It also has an entire book based on prophesy, prognostication of the future, etc. (revelations) which was given to people 'God' appeared to like alright. It's also got 'God's' army consulting an oracle in at least one place.

When it comes to the bible, and I'm getting into overly warm water here, many people perceive the entire thing exactly as it is, as a holy document. This may be so, but that perspective tends to overlook or disregard that it is also a very, very political book, concerning what is in it, and how it is interpreted and translated. Almost no matter what the question, you can find two opposing points of view in the bible about them.

Starting about here, I suggest invoking a very deep sense of humor.

(As the saying goes, "Sometimes, the knot is so impossibly tangled, the only sword to cut through it is laughter.")

For example, thou shalt not kill, but 'God's' armies wiped out all kinds of people.

And we allegedly have free will, yet in more than one place 'God' 'hardened the heart' of a pharoah to MAKE him refuse to let the jews go for example, which led to horrible, horrible punishments on all the egyptian people, none of which I might add was making the decision; was it fair that some young egyptian child was covered with horrible boils, or an eldest son died, all because someone else made a decision they wouldn't even have made if God himself hadn't hardened his heart?

Then there's stuff like, no matter how much a sinner someone else might be, 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone', and 'love one another as you love yourself', yet then you get to 'thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.' So that pretty young mother down the street who is into wicca and is the sweetest little vegetarian momma I ever met, I should go kill her?

You see how taking all this literally can get one into difficulties.

Then there is some difference between the old testament and the new testament. Some christians will say the old sort of replaced the new, and others that it merely fulfilled it and the old still applies. (Actually you can find devout christians who disagree on every imaginable point, as well as bible scholars. Pretty much, just decide what YOU feel is right, and I assure you, you can find others with credentials and churches who agree.)

While we're on the subject of humor, there's a letter once written to Dr. Laura (after her condemnation of gays) that is hilarious and examples this problem with applying old bible stuff to current life pretty well:

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan,

J. Kent Ashcraft
[/hr]

If it wasn't for that, I would be going for this no holes barrred!!
Seriously, Rita, if you think that psychic functioning is not in alignment with God's will, then forget it. There is SO MUCH to get through already, in terms of psychology concerning psi, that adding religious fear on top of it is just totally unworkable.

Worse, if you have a belief system that contains some idea that evil is just lurking around the corner or under the surface of things, the first thing that opening your subconscious is likely to do, is personally introduce you to your fears. While this would only send you scurrying away from psi, it might also be unpleasant, and isn't something I'd wish on anybody.

What does TDS, TKR and PSI stand for?
Psi is just the word using for psychic phenomena. TDS stands for TransDimensional Systems, the name of a former company that a woman named Prudence Calabrese used to run (or perhaps still does but not publicly). TKR, if you look at the very top of any of these pages, stands for "Ten Thousand Roads." That's the name of the Remote Viewing & Dowsing Project that hosts this message board complex.

And ether? I'm thinking that is the foggy place you go when you are remote viewing.
It is a concept. Some call it ether, that word is from the old days. Some call it Aethyr, then it takes on other meanings as well. Some call it 'the matrix', then it also takes on other meanings. It might not even exist. It's a mental idea for a non-physical place where all information exists.

Just don't want to get stuck there. Morehouse sounds like he has emotional problems from reading Psychic Warrier. Maybe he's better now. I know he does seminars.
Not all people are appropriate, psychologically, for remote viewing. If you have any doubts about that, I strongly recommend taking up another form of exploration. It's a big world. There are lots of things to be interested in.

Best regards,
PJ

PJ, loved the D Laura piece !!

Rita, while looking for information on 'reverse psi',anti coinsidence psi, negative psi,(all of which have nothing to do with this thread) I came upon the following and thought of you. I briefly scanned the sites and found them to be interesting. I'm sure you wll find much thought provoking information.

There is also a very good 'beginners' explanation of what to expect when first viewing a target as well as offering a free viewing test.

I'm not sure what you are looking for, but check these links out and see if they help.

Remote Viewing Test  at a Warm & Fuzzy Christian RV site

Central to the belief systems presented on this site is the profound conviction that the Universe, the Higher Power, God, Yahweh, Allah, the Force is One with every person. That conviction creates an unconditional Trust that when people ask to know about themselves, the Universe, and God, answers will be revealed directly from the Higher Power, and those unique answers will be the answers that will most benefit the individual person at that moment in his or her life and Eternal Life.

Plantsower,

My "Opinion" on your original question.

I think David Moorehouse's book is less than safe. It was the first book I ever read on RV. (Yech!) Based on my research.... I have come to believe that Mr. Moorehouse is much better building backyard decks than writing or teaching RV.

Working without a moderator is the way I prefer to work targets. I have had problems with "ding bat" moderators messing up my practice sessions.

Wow, you saw right into my heart and mind. I have already been doing what you suggest even before you suggested it. What you said makes so much sense. Funny, a few weeks ago I started praying for a more spiritual life other than my norm as a Christian. Maybe this is God answering me. With all my preconceived notions of WHO GOD IS from church and my Bible reading (I have read the Bible several times cover to cover and in several versions), it's hard to let go of what I think of as truth. I have been rethinking things a lot the past few days.

I feel my safety net is my constant background prayer of "God if this is not right and you are displeased, let me know. I don't want you upset with me in anyway. Otherwise, I'm going for it.

I very much appreciate your insight to my dilemma and I will continue my journey. Thanks for the encouragement.

PJ:

I am so glad you know where I'm coming from because of your background. It really authenticates what you are saying.

My background is charismatic, pentacostal, whatever you want to call it. If my Christian family and friends knew I was doing this, there would be a panic. I haven't gone to church for years but never lost touch with God. I just feels there's something more.
I spent many years fasting and praying, etc. Got visions, prophesied, had dreams, etc. It was my privilege to do so and never minded. Now when I look back, I don't the energy it took to fast many days, pray, etc. for what seems like so little reward spiritually. I told God that, too.

I know I am probably not the only one dealing with this dilemma, so I hope if there is anyone here not participating but reading, that it will help them with this journey, also.

I appreciated the Dr. Laura clip. So funny!!! I laughed out loud.

I've been reading Conversations with God Book I and it has also changed my perceptions of who God is. I don't swallow anything whole without analyzing it, and that one has me thinking but not accepting everything. It has dovetailed with my researching about RV.

(By the way, the answer to your previous question, "am I a gardener?" I was really into gardening when I picked my name Plantsower. I still love to garden but haven't in awhile.)

I'm still searching and researching and will thoroughly explore this phenomenon before making a decision. At this point, I am leaning toward trying it. Unless I read something that is a real red flag and puts fear into my heart, I will definitely try this.

I am in the process of reading the CRV manual you so graciously provided for free. It is quite long, so I was wondering if there is something else I should read concurrently to get me going faster, or should I just be patient and read that whole thing before going onto other things so that I can experiment?

Yesterday I tried to download your FAQs and couldn't. Don't know if it's a glitch or just my computer giving me problems as usual.

I am going to print what you and Polka Dot wrote as an inspiration on my journey. I would think I would get the creeps if this is wrong. I feel good here.

Thanks so much again for your patient answers.

Moorehouse's book is the first book on RV I've read, also!! I find it fascinating but, like I said earlier, he sounds unstable. It's good to have the perspective, though. I will continue to read more books as I find them.

Doing this on my own frightens me, but I think that's because I read that book first!!

Maybe after reading a more "down to earth" approach, my fears will disappear.

What is your method of RV? Do you just step through the CRV process? Is there any ERV involved? Could you be so kind as to describe a typical session?

.... don't be ambiguious with your intent ~
I've been reading Conversations with God Book I and it has also changed my perceptions of who God is.
I was going to suggest this book to you. As you might imagine, in some circles it is quite controversial. That you have been so accepting of the premise of the book is a good indication that you are ready..or at least willing, to reevaluate your current beliefs. I throughly enjoyed the book and have his second volume on my to read list.

I just feels there's something more.
Without a doubt, there is more. As your perspectives change you will be aware of a much larger universe with it's seemingly unlimited facets. I would venture to say that the most rewarding aspect for you will be that of 'knowing/feeling/living' a universal connection unlike what you have presently known. You certainly won't be required to 'give up your God', but you will eventually need to define God for yourself. People who know there is something more are called the seekers.

As for your friends/family...give this time. Right now you are feeling somewhat sneaky about exploring such a rash thing as Remote Viewing and this will create some glitches for you until you become more comfortable with your decision. When you actually do some targets and experience it for yourself, you will come to realize you've been doing this all your life (just as have your friends/family). The difference is that you are now doing it consciously and becoming aware of the results.

it's hard to let go of what I think of as truth
Yes, it is....and don't be in a big rush to do so. Give all of this time. It will sort its self out. You will integrate new awareness as you go along. This needs to be in your timing, not someone elses.

I think most of us have had to go through the relegion/God process. For most people, this is a core belief challenge and can be unsettling for a while....as our awarnesses change, so do our truths. Just this aspect alone, the learning that 'truth' is changeable can toss us into chaos sometimes. What was truth yesterday can well be an illusion today.

Wow, you saw right into my heart and mind.
I was touched by your telling me this....thank you. You also have been part of a confirmation that has been in the making for sometime now. For the past few months, I've been having issues/situations put in front of me that are indicating a direction in my life that I've been putting off. More and more I am seeing that I need to be working with people again and using psi as my tool. I did this for a number of years, but wanted to try some new things..which I did, but now it seems I am to return to where I was...this time with more expanded knowledge and experience. The past 2 years have been filled with research and learning and I've enjoyed it fully...now it's time to use what I've learned though I'm still dragging my feet. We'll see..... (eventually I'll give in to it)

I'm glad my instincts to post that link for you was correct. I did look the site over and now that I know you liked Conversations with God, this site will fit in very nicely. I'm happy that what we've expressed has been helpful for you and had encouraged you. Rita, this is far more than just about remote viewing....this is a huge personal growth experience and remote viewing is one of the many stepping stones getting us there....hence, the All Roads lead to Rome/Ten Thousand Roads.

Again, welcome. You are in good hands here.

Depends on how I feel at the moment. For the most part I use kind of a short hand version of Lynn Buchanan's CRV.

You know, taking out all the bells and whistles until all you are doing is describing the target.

Hard core CRV (and others) makes me feel like I am filling out a tax form.

As for ERV.. It is fun, but I am far more accurate awake sitting down with my pen and paper.

Polka Dot: Is that what you want to be called? You did it again.

Right now you are feeling somewhat sneaky about exploring such a rash thing as Remote Viewing.

That's exactly how I am feeling. I'm not a sneaky person by nature and I don't like being this way, but I know I have to come to terms with my beliefs, etc, before I "go public." I am willing to take my time though I am anxious at the same time to get going. I still have some taboos in my head. As time goes on, they may stay that way and that's okay. As you said, "I am not required to give up my God." That statement alone gave me peace because God knows my heart. I am definitely not being sneaky with God (which is impossible anyway).

According to the forum site you had made 813 posts. I can't imagine you have been holding back. But I can tell you, you are a great encourager and have great insight. I'm picky about who and what I listen to. If you had come off as "out there" I wouldn't have listened, believe me.

So thank you and if I am a confirmation to you, you know you must go for it, also.

Sincerely,

Rita

LOL....you have no idea what you said!! It goes something like this~ :D
there are just a few things I don't respond well to (and they seem to cover everything under the sky) and they are: should, don't, won't, can't, must, have to etc LMAO!

Yes, you were/are a confirmation...number 4 in fact. Since I'm being stubborn about this, I'm holding out for an even dozen ;) ...and then I'll be the first to wonder why, when I can't put it off any longer, I get the 'hit over the head with a 2x4' experience. ::)

Egads! 813 posts. I haven't been paying attention.I've done some 'holding back', but not much and not in important areas. Here, on the boards, I am as I am in 'real life'....wysiwyg...computer lingo for what you see is what you get.

Sounds as if you are ready 'to go'. Enjoy yourself...remember, keep all of this light and fun and you will be just fine. Keep us updated on your progress!
