When I got my first job my mother refused to buy me an alarm clock saying I
should learn to wake up at the right time. I thought she was being very unfair
but I discovered she was right in that we can wake up right to the exact minute
if we put our minds to it.
I find this fascinating. I suppose it's no different to getting information
using RV but because time is just a concept and differs depending on where you
are on the planet is amazes me that we can know the time at all times.
I quite often practice Rving the time before I look at my watch during the day.
I'm usually within a few minutes but if I wake up during the night I almost
always know exactly what the time is before I check the clock. Occasionally I'll
have a dream that includes the time and on waking find that the clock reads the
same time.
Cheers to all
Liz

Hi Liz... after taking a course about ten years ago called Pursuit of
Excellence, where we weren't allowed to wear watches, I discovered I
liked the freedom of that and have never worn one since. And I alwyas
know almost to the minute what time it is. I've been late only a
couple of times in ten years and that was because my day got backed up
from the start... so it is totally possible to "know" time.
I never thought of it as RVing though... ;-D

Moderator's note: It's not RV, but many of us tend to use RV as slang for
anything-psi sometimes. I actually consider the 'time' issue to be a simple
subconscious (or at least, normally-not-conscious) thing, not a psi thing, BUT,
regular practice at allowing one's subconscious to provide information can be
good for one's RV. -- PJ

I discovered the same thing for myself in college. I found that I
was waking up seconds before the alarm on a regular basis. Since I
set my alarm to diff times each day, it was not a case of habit.
After a while, I found that I could simply just tell myself before
bed when I wanted to wake up and it worked. However, if I forgot to
tell myself something, then it wouldn't work. My brain would not
bother to work that part of the info out for me and wake me anyway,
although I have to wonder if maybe it would have if I had told it
to. But it just never occured to me until now! However, I did
notice that if I was really tired or sleep deprived, then there was a
chance that it wouldn't work. I think maybe my brain would just kind
of overrule the request in favor of more pressing needs. And so in
those cases, I would still use my alarm. But nowadays, it's been a
few years since I have used an alarm. Maybe I might still use it as
a backup if something was really impt.

Hey Liz and all,
A few years ago I knew a couple who didn't own an alarm clock because they
could wake up at any time they wished to. I suggested that they should at
least have one for very important events, but they both insisted that they
didn't need one...if they needed to get up at 3:30AM, they would both wake
at 3:30AM. When I first read about lucid dreams, I said to myself that I
was going to have one that night, and sure enough I did, and I've been able
to have them almost any time I decide I want to ever since. It made me
think to try not using an alarm clock, and sure enough, if I tell myself
that I need to be up by certain time, I will always wake up - and be alert
too - about 5-7 minutes before the pre-determined time. (Maybe I should give
"flying" a try:-)

You can take it one step further. Tell yourself to wake up whenever
there is an impt event that needs your attention, ie sick child,
burgler, water pipe broke, etc. Also tell yourself you will realize
that the wake up was for an impt reason so that you'll know to get up
and investigate. If you leave your radar on while you're asleep, it
can be very convenient at times!

Hi Eve,
I discovered I could wake up at the time I wanted to, because I hated waking
up with the alarm, it would always wake me with a start. At first I though
it had something to do with habit like a biological clock. But then I
experimented with guessing the time when I wake up during the night, and I
always got it right. Often when I wake up and before I open my eyes I see a
picture of my clock with the arrows at the appropriate time. It reminded me
a lot of seeing through my eyelids, which has happened to me just before I
go OOB, or when I manage to just partially separate from my body.

Cool! I usually just wake up for some reason and see that it happens
to corrrespond to the time I wanted to wake up.

Aloha Eve,
As a single mom...I had to get real good at leaving the radar on...In
fact it came with the babies...however... sleep deprovation can set in...
by not going into REM...

If you are tired, then it's too much radar! Believe me, you can
sleep deep and sound and still wake up if you set your psychic
radar. One time I was sleeping and in my dream someone pointed right
at me and yelled, 'WAKE UPPPPP!!!!!' Well I did and with quite a
start. I looked out the window and the drug runners were parking at
the end of our property again. They were the reason that I had tried
the psychic alarm clock in the first place. It infuriated me that
they kept parking at the end of our property to pick up and deliver
their drugs. This time, they hadn't quite turned off the headlights
yet when I looked out so I could still see them. I called the cops
and told them there was a tresspasser and they sent 3 cars right away
(which is a miracle in itself). Since then the drug running house
down the street has been vacated and sold so now I don't have the
radar going off much anymore.
But you are right, if you try to leave a part of the waking
consciousness on, then you will get sleepy. Instead just tell
yourself you will sleep well but suddenly wake up if there is a
problem that needs your attention. In my case, I set the parameters
as mostly to be my property or anything near it that was important.
Waking up is only useful if there is something you can actually do
about the problem.

Moderator's note: There is some speculation that natural lucid dreaming can
partly be spawned by people who can't 'turn off the radar', and so have too much
'conscious' activity going on even while they sleep. I believe that was
probably my case for the first 29 years of life. Allegedly it's a lot healthier
to truly sleep deeply. --PJ

That's why I say only program yourself to become lucid if there is a
reason for needing it which is usually only once in a blue moon.
Otherwise, yeah you may get sleepy. ALthough it seems there is a way
to do it without getting sleepy. THere are nights when I feel like I
can remember everything I thought from the whole night. You think
you aren't thinking that much while asleep but it's amazing how much
is really going on! On these nights, I don't feel sleep deprived by
morning. It's hard to explain, the the consciousness is slightly
diff then the usual lucid dream thing. It's like being a step above
that or something. Still, I do agree that a lot of the time, lots of
bizarre activity while asleep does tend to lead to tiredness. But
what the heck, I think it's worth it! ;-)

Hi Eva,
I agree...but have come to consider that even if we
remember every dream of the night.. there is still
other "astral-wavelenghts" where we may be out doing
things or getting information..that occurs
simultaneously with normal dreams.
Best Regards,
Bill
